Result of Vote & Learn #3

Our winnerΒ foor vote and learnΒ is Β #2

So in this part of vote and learn, I would like to talk about Curves! You must be knowing that curves are awesome πŸ˜‰ Indeed they are.

So try to include some curves in your frame. If those curves can lead the eyes toΒ a certainΒ subject or to a certain part of the frame, then it is better.

See in the 2nd picture, those wires will lead you all the way to the main part of the head phone. In the other pictures also, there are curves. But they don’t lead anywhere. And most probably that is why they were less appealing to most of you, who had voted.

There are C curves, S curves, circles and a lot of other curves too πŸ˜‰

So whenever you are taking a picture, you can identify certain curves in the scene, make it a part of the frame, and do include them in the picture.

For example

The road lies ahead of you
The road lies ahead of you
kerala tourism, edakkal, wayanad, tea estates
Through the tea estates
travel to edakkal caves, kerala
Curvalicious roads

Roads gives the best example for it.

But want more example?!

Hope you enjoyed the curves. That is all for this part of Vote n Learn.

Happy Clicking.Β  Keep experimenting.

          1. Basically it is because of the aperture, that can go very wide, like 1.8 which is really wide. That makes the subjects stand out from the background.

Also it is kind of cheaper lens and value for money lens.

And it is prime lens, so always better than the kit lens

  1. Yeah, I won again!!! πŸ™‚ I couldn’t believe it actually. I wasn’t thinking of curves or anything when voting for the photo at that time. I just looked at how the entire image presented to me and voted for what looked best to me. Anyway, it was really good to learn something about curves and I loved all the examples you posted here. They all looked amazing! <3

    1. Now you know that you are born with photography skills πŸ˜€ Congratulations on your winning streak . Glad you are enjoying. Thank you for your support πŸ™‚

      1. Aww totally blushing right…Wish I was born with great photography skills πŸ˜› Thank you for letting us to vote actually! πŸ™‚

You’re most welcome. I love participating in these kinds of voting game πŸ˜‰

        1. haha.. to appreciate a photograph is another skill πŸ˜€ I am glad to know that you are enjoying the ‘voting’. I am trying hard to find ideas for upcoming voting things πŸ˜€

  2. FINALLY πŸ˜€ Lovely post and you are getting better at the tutorial with such variety in the examples. I like, I learn πŸ™‚ Now guess which one did I choose this time πŸ˜€

  3. Sorry I missed the last vote and learn, but I found this commentary on curves very fascinating and informative.

Sometime I would like a picture of running around a curve, with me on the side 1/3rd of the picture. πŸ˜€

Hope you have had a great day! πŸ™‚

  4. I must say I am surprised ! I actually voted for 1 which has the least votes πŸ™‚ While I understand now a bit about curves, 1st glance choice had a different effect on my perception.
I found 2nd one sprawled out,so the white background effect felt like diminished and I didn’t know where to focus in the image. 3rd one had a striking contrast and though the wires were nearby the main structure, yet they felt disoriented. And as per my vision,I didn’t want the earphones to be too striking.
So,the 1st picture,I felt 3 parts, white background, wires, and the main structure all in separate sections, the contrast lesser than 2rd one, together gave a more comfortable vision for me.

    Ok,kill me if I sounded weird. πŸ™‚

    1. Wow.. you could have posted it and give me a ping back!! πŸ˜€
Well as you know there is no good and bad photos. Thank you for liking the less appealing photos πŸ™‚
Well now you know that I wasn’t giving importance to the white background! Only important thing in this picture, can be the ‘brand name’. Finally you need to notice that. I tried with some random curves. Well I just tried πŸ™‚
And it wasn’t weird. It is good to have another opinion. πŸ™‚

      1. I just thought it it as overall effect and not the background. All combined together effect. It’s all matter of perspectives, isn’t it πŸ™‚ I totally agree on the curves part ….
