Short answer: yes. If you hold an ordinary Indian passport and plan to enter Singapore, you normally need a Singapore entry visa before travelling. The main exception is the tightly defined 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF), which applies only to eligible transit passengers.

Do Indian passport holders need a Singapore visa?

Indian citizens travelling on ordinary passports must apply for an entry visa before visiting Singapore. Official and diplomatic Indian passport holders may have different requirements.

A visa allows you to travel to Singapore and seek entry, but it does not guarantee admission. The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer at the checkpoint makes the final decision. Visitors should also meet Singapore’s general entry requirements, including carrying an individually issued passport with at least six months’ validity, having sufficient funds, and holding an onward or return ticket where applicable.

How Indians can apply for a Singapore visa

For applications made in India, use an authorised visa agent listed by the Singapore High Commission. Do not assume that a company appearing in search results is authorised. The official list changes, and some agents may be temporarily suspended.

• Choose an authorised agent serving your region.
• Ask the agent for the current document checklist and application form.
• Submit complete documents, the required photograph and the applicable fees.
• Keep the application reference number so you can check the result.
• If approved, obtain and check the electronic visa before travelling.

Requirements can vary by the purpose of travel and individual circumstances. Business applications may need supporting documents from a Singapore-registered business or local contact. Follow the checklist supplied by the authorised agent rather than copying an old list from a blog.

Singapore visa fees and processing time for Indians

As of 24 July 2026, the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi lists a non-refundable visa processing fee of INR 2,100. Authorised visa agents are permitted to charge a service fee of INR 1,000 in addition to the visa fee. Check the official page before paying, because fees can change.

The usual processing time is three to five working days, excluding the submission date, weekends and public holidays. Some applications take longer. Incomplete forms or missing documents can delay the decision, so leave a sensible buffer and avoid relying on last-minute processing.

The High Commission also warns that buying flights before receiving a visa is at the traveller’s own risk. A flight booking does not improve or guarantee the application outcome.

Singapore Visa-Free Transit Facility for Indians

Some Indian nationals transiting through Singapore may qualify for the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility. This is not a general four-day visa-free holiday scheme. You must be travelling through Singapore to or from a third country and satisfy all current VFTF conditions.

• You must have a valid onward air, ferry or cruise ticket leaving Singapore within 96 hours.
• You may enter Singapore by any mode of transport, but you must depart by air or sea.
• You must hold an eligible valid visa or long-term pass with at least one month’s validity from Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States.
• You must satisfy Singapore’s prevailing entry requirements.

SG Arrival Card for Indian travellers

The SG Arrival Card is not a visa. It is a separate electronic arrival and health declaration. Foreign visitors who will clear Singapore immigration generally need to submit it within three days before arrival, including the day of arrival.

For example, if you arrive on Friday, you may submit it from Wednesday onward. Submit it free through the official ICA SG Arrival Card service or the MyICA mobile app. Travellers who remain in transit without seeking immigration clearance are generally exempt.

ICA warns about commercial and fake SG Arrival Card websites that charge money or collect personal information. The official submission is free. Check the website address carefully before entering passport details.

Before you travel: quick checklist

• Confirm that your passport will have at least six months’ validity when you enter Singapore.
• Apply through a currently authorised visa agent and allow extra time beyond the usual processing window.
• Check all details on the issued e-Visa against your passport.
• Keep your accommodation details and onward or return travel information accessible.
• Submit the free SG Arrival Card within the permitted three-day window.
• Recheck ICA’s entry requirements shortly before departure.
