People From Kumbha Mela 2015

Reading Time: 1 minute

Kumbha mela is  believed to be the largest religious gathering on earth.  It happened in Nashik this year. Millions of people came attend this fair. Here you can see a very small cross section of those people.

People have come from far to cleanse their sins

People came alone and in groups

But the highlight was the Sadhus /hermits/saints/pilgrims.

And followers following Sadhu

While someone was trying to become a sadhu

But the most interesting part was to capture the Naga sadhus.

And they all gave me a wonderful experience to cherish.

[PS : I have deliberately used the term Sadhu which means renunciates who seeks nothing but liberation/Nirvana/Moksha. These pictures represents only a very small part of sadhus to come to any conclusions.]

I’ve never been to the Kumbh, but your gallery took me there virtually. Thank you. 🙂

And I envy you. Seriously. For a photographer, it’s a treat. Amazingly cool photos. Sadhu with the camera is outstanding.

Whoa..you went to Kumba Mela?? Cool. And all these photos are just marvelous. Guy with the camera is funny. I went in Hardiwar a few years back. Ganga was very cold.

Interesting series and great shot selection. I can only imagine what the crowd must have looked like, and the noise and atmosphere.
