Poetry on Rock : Adalaj Stepwell

Adalaj stepwell

It was during my hitch hiking trip to Ahmedabad, I went to see this marvellous craftsmanship. A stepwell in Adalaj, Ahmedabad.

A stepwell is are well or ponds in which the water may be reached by descending a set of steps. They may be covered and protected and are often of architectural significance.

There are a lot of stepwells in Gujarat, but the one in Adalaj is the famous one.

This is one of my favourite part of the Stepwell. This picture is the header for my Twitter and Facebook! Even the featured picture of  first post here. Now you know this picture is special to me.

    1. Thank you for sharing the link.
Haha.. I dont know much about the pigeon world. I can think of inviting entries for such a picture.
Well did you see, a few of our pictures are similar looking. I guess that is how we all look at certain things!

  1. where is the poem only pictures and why is that I can’t make this out as a well…only first picture looks like water and steps on it…interesting…

  2. Gosh! Why am I seeing these beautiful carvings just here? These should be spread to the world. Why did not I ever see this in any nat geo mag? You have a great eye! Thank you so much for sharing this one.
You should contact nat geo for the pictures. 😉 They are gonna love them. 😀

    1. haha.. you are too kind and sweet to say that 😀
I’m sure it will be somewhere in their database. And thank you so much for the generous appreciation 🙂

  3. The Poetry on rock need (and must) go to NG (the National Geo) Magazine!!! I also like the the corridor shot. Thank you for the “Throwback Thursday”!

  4. You hitch-hiked in Ahmedabad! That is my city… my home… my love. So putting aside the drama, I will search for more posts regarding Ahmedabad. A fresh perspective is needed.

    1. Thank you 🙂
What you said is so true. But even today’s craftsmen are good too. The only difference and mainly the greatness lies is the difference in technology. That’s what I feel
